A persistent cough, sputum and breathlessness, a persistent high fever that accompanies it. The majority are viral and self-limited and gentlest of bacteria do not require antibiotics. However, high toxicity and a significant reduction in lung function may indicate that treatment is necessary.

Hello Charli XX.

Pneumonia is an infection of the airways leading to pneumonia or an infection of the lungs. "Lung infection" is a generic term for several conditions, including pneumonia and bronchitis.

People with a chest infection almost always bring a cough, phlegm (thick mucus) from the breast. The common cold is an infection that has caused by coughing, but if infection of the nose and throat is limited, is much less likely to lead to big problems.

Symptoms of adult respiratory infection

The symptoms of acute bronchitis and pneumonia can be similar - for example, produces a cough, sputum (thick mucus) and a high temperature. But the biggest difference between the symptoms of acute bronchitis and pneumonia, pneumonia is more serious.

1. Acute bronchitis

Acute bronchitis is generally mild, self-limiting disease (a disease that disappears by itself, without) the need for medical treatment. The symptoms of acute bronchitis, includingE:

Breast • persistent cough
• cough, phlegm, which is usually yellow or green
• Shortness of breath during physical exertion (above the usual level of the person)
• pipes
• dry mouth,
• High temperature (in most cases, although some people like the elderly, the temperature from May to autumn),
• Headache
• loss of appetite.

The cough usually lasts between 7-10 days continue, but up to three weeks. Acute bronchitis can cause headaches and feel generally unwell. However, these symptoms may be caused by dehydration. Therefore, it is very important to drink plenty of fluids.

Many of the symptoms of acute bronchitis, are connected, such as headache and generally feeling unwell, are sometimes caused by dehydration. However, dehydration may have been caused by the infection itself.

2. Pneumonia

The usual symptoms of pneumonia are:

• Difficulty breathing - breaths are rapid and shallow
• A cough that produces phlegm (mucus),
• rapid heart beat,
• a high fever and
• Pain in the chest.

Less common symptoms of pneumonia are:

• coughing up blood
• headache
• loss of appetite,
• Tiredness
• Nausea
• vomiting,
• joint pain, muscle pain and
• Bluish skin color.

Sometimes older people can be confused with pneumonia and disoriented.

When should I seek medical attention for anyone with a cough?

It is difficult to distinguish between a cough that is caused by a cold, acute bronchitis and pneumonia symptoms. Consult a doctor if a person with a cough developed one of the following problems:

• You see or feel very bad, and they can not get good results with daily activities,
• Confused and disoriented,
• a temperature of over 38C (100F)
• have a high resting heart rate (compared to normal)
• alone are panting or breathless, are generally lighter than ex --Regarding the efforts
• you have a sharp pain in the chest when breathing (pleurisy) have
• coughing up blood, phlegm (thick mucus), stained
• have a cough that lasts longer than three weeks,
• a health major, long term, such as diabetes, heart failure or other long-term causes of the condition that difficulty breathing;
• wheezing.

Take care. Regards.

In the recently emerged from a lung infection. I had very bad chest, sputum (if thats the green signs of infection), persistent cough sounds wet and / or feels like phlegm, wheezing, tired, breathless. My advice to doctors to get some antibiotics, and often treated with amoxicillin, there are many people who have been diagnosed with pneumonia. Your doctor may tell you, if you have to listen to the chest! Hope you feel better soon
